In many ways the end of 2017 and the first half of 2018 was a distinct period when the effects of the populist governments and their relationship to social media came to a head in the Cambridge Analytica scandal; we saw the global disgust at Weinstein and the #metoo movement and how a rational government system such as the EU can still work to protect its citizens through the launch of the GDPR. We also decided to focus the final book on the rise of artificial intelligence and it’s pronounced rapid impact on society. This book includes contributions from AI Now!, the Alan Turing Institute and the University of Oxford.
