Narrative Elaboration and misinformation regarding COVID-19
Data set from 80 participants. Statements contained misinformation and true statements regarding COVID-19. Statements were also accompanied by narrative elaboration that expanded on the text. Participants had to rate each statement for believability and willingness to share the statement online. Greater scores indicated greater believability and a greater willingness to share the statement. Data were analysed using paired samples t-tests and correlations. Participants were also grouped by age with younger adults aged 18-34 and older adults aged 35 and over. Age effects were analysed using independent samples t-tests.
