Benefits of data sharing and basic data management
8th July 10am-12 noon
Speaker - Cristina Magder (Data Collections Development Manager at the UK Data Service)
This introductory session is intended for early career researchers and postgraduates who want to learn about the benefits and requirements of sharing data. Data management is essential in making sure that well organised, well documented, high quality and shareable research data result from our research projects. This session provides an overview of how to plan, manage, document, and safeguard research data, with a view to optimising data sharing.
Home to the largest digital collection of social sciences and population research data, UK Data Service (UKDS) holds data that can enable research as varied as the experience of illness, child development, access to care, lifestyle behaviour, subjective physical and mental well-being, government expenditure and service coverage. UKDS is funded by the Economic and Social Research Council to meet the data needs of researchers, students and teachers from all sectors providing access to data, support, guidance, and training for the development of skills in data creation and data use.
