This training session was held on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, and jointly produced by colleagues from Northumbria University’s Research and Innovation Services and the University Library who had attended the Centre for Open Science's Train-the-Trainer programme. Additionally, a Postgraduate Researcher also contributed to the session to share their first-hand experiences. The presentation focused on introducing open research and open data, highlighting the benefits of these practices.

Participants were invited to join an interactive session where the fundamentals of open research practices, including research data management, were demystified. The session also provided practical ways to embed these practices into one's own work.

During the session, attendees were informed about the changing research landscape and the growing significance of open research practices. These practices are not only on the rise but are also increasingly mandatory and highly esteemed by academic publishers.

Attendees also heard about one postgraduate researcher’s experiences with incorporating open practices into her research, including pre-registrations, registered reports, and open processes. She shared her firsthand experiences with conducting research openly and discussed the impact it had on her academic work.

The session welcomed participants of all levels, whether they were new to these practices or seeking a refresher.
