Policy brief: Area of Research Interest on Citizen Engagement and Connected Communities

This briefing provides an update to participants and stakeholders involved in the Area of Research Interest (ARI) pilot that took place between 2023-2024. Key findings from the pilot are outlined, along with recommendations and links to useful resources that may be helpful to organisations keen to embed citizen engagement into their day-to-day operations (for example local and combined authorities, health and social care services, and VCSE sector organisations).

The purpose of the pilot was to develop a strong evidence base around the role of citizen engagement in supporting a dynamic and more inclusive economy that brings together people and opportunities to create vibrant communities and a high quality of life, narrowing inequalities and ensuring that all residents have a stake in our region's future.
