<p dir="ltr">This report provides innovative insight into the use, effectiveness and impact of digital forensics across the entirety of the criminal justice system.</p><p dir="ltr">The data from the Northumbria University Digital Forensics Project identifies:</p><p dir="ltr">· the application and impact of digital forensics</p><p dir="ltr">· challenges and inefficiencies</p><p dir="ltr">· areas in which the allocation of greater resources would affect the greatest increase in impact</p><p dir="ltr">· barriers and risks in current practice that undermine the overall aims of the criminal justice system</p><p dir="ltr">This project also serves as a pathfinder for subsequent and more resource intensive qualitative and quantitative studies.</p><p dir="ltr">This report makes recommendations about future policy reviews and strategic investment for delivering the large-scale transformation required for more effective and impactful use of digital forensics to the benefit of the entire criminal justice system.</p><p><br></p>
