This British Academy funded project explored the lived experiences of new refugees in the North of England during the 28-day gap. It also looked at the efforts of local authorities and third sector groups to support them. The project ran between 2021-2023 with an ESRC funded feasibility study in 2019-2020, it systematic involved policy analysis and 47 interviews with new refugees, local authorities, a dispersal contractor, and support organisations. The project builds upon and updates previous research by NACCOM, the Red Cross and the Refugee Council who have explored the implications of the move-on period for new refugees.
